Raley's, Sunkist ‘Take a Stand’ Against Hunger

Regional independent Raley’s Family of Fine Stores and Sunkist Growers have teamed up this summer to help families teach kids the value of charitable giving. Near the Sunkist lemons at all Raley's, Bel Air and Nob Hill stores, customers can order a Sunkist lemonade stand to set up in their neighborhood to benefit their favorite cause.

Through the program, which runs through Labor Day, customers can order a Sunkist lemonade stand with their smartphone or by texting a code in the produce section. Once received, kids are encouraged to choose their cause, to personalize their lemonade stand and start selling.

"Giving back to the community is important to us at Raley's," said Jennie Teel-Wolter, Raley's community relations manager. "We are working with Sunkist this summer to encourage children to identify and Take A Stand for a cause they believe in."

The program also benefits Food For Families, a non-profit launched in 1986 that helps feed thousands at food banks in the communities it serves. Customers donate to the cause and 100 percent of their donations go to their local food bank. With the purchase of every 2-pound Sunkist lemon bag, Sunkist is donating 25 cents to Food For Families, up to $10,000.

West Sacramento-based Raley's operates 128 stores in Northern California and Nevada under four banners: Raley's Supermarkets, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods and Food Source.
