Raley's Offers Buyouts to 100 Employees
Grocery store giant Raley’s, Inc. last week said it would give buyouts to 100 of its longtime store clerks, according to a published report.
The Sacramento, Calif., Business Journal reported that the supermarket chain offered the buyouts -- which were requested by employees -- to the first 100 of its 3,000 clerks who respond by mid-July.
Workers who accept the buyout will receive 75 percent of their 2008 earnings in one lump sum, the retailer said, and store clerks from Raley’s, Bel Air, and Nob Hill banners are eligible.
The West Sacramento, Calif.-based chain said it would be able to fill those jobs with workers who were let go earlier as part of regular seasonal layoffs.
