Publix Raises $1.8M for Nonprofits

Publix Super Markets’ Miami Division’s raised $1.79 million in six weeks to benefit local and regional nonprofit organizations throughout South Florida through its holiday Food For All program.

From Nov. 13 through Dec. 24, customers contributed by selecting a $1, $3 or $5 donation coupon at checkout; donation amounts were added to their final grocery bills. Publix distribute grants to more than 70 South Florida charitable organizations during a check presentation luncheon last month.

“Our customers and associates were exceptional in their support of for our annual holiday season Food For All campaign,” said Bill Fauerbach, Publix Miami Division’s VP of retail operations. “Our 2011 program exceeded all expectations and we are thrilled with the results.”

Food For All is a charitable marketing organization that partners with thousands of grocery retailers nationwide to run point-of-purchase fundraisers. Since 1985, Food For All has successfully raised more than $65 million to fight hunger in the United States and around the world.

With 2011 sales of $27 billion, Publix has 1,050 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
