Publix Opening Pharmacy in Cancer Center
Publix Super Markets Inc. will open an expanded-access full-service retail pharmacy within Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center on July 2. Currently, the center’s retail pharmacy provides specialized convenience to outpatients, employees and their dependents, and other cancer center visitors.
“With the exceptional customer service reputation of an organization like Publix and the fact that both of our companies are Florida-based, this collaboration seemed like a natural fit,” said Braulio Vicente, Moffitt Hospital & Physician Group operations SVP. “We know Publix will continue to provide the high level of service our patients and employees have come to know and expect from Moffitt.”
“Publix Pharmacies have been dedicated to the health-and-wellness needs of our customers and their families,” said Fred Ottolino, VP, pharmacy operations at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix. “The opportunity to bring our level of customer care to patients of Moffitt Cancer Center not only allows us to meet their immediate needs, but also to build long-term relationships with our customers as they return home.”
The Publix Pharmacy at Moffitt will offer such services as pickup of prescriptions at their neighborhood Publix pharmacies, the ability to fill prescriptions at multiple convenient locations, mail-order capability, electronic routing of prescriptions to desired neighborhood Publix pharmacy locations, and expanded hours through their neighborhood Publix pharmacies and the Publix Pharmacy at Moffitt.
Publix, which is the largest employee-owned business in the company, operates 1,049 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. Of these stores, 860 have pharmacies.
