Pro’s Ranch Market Now Los Altos Ranch Market
CNG Ranch LLC, a partnership between California-based Cardenas Markets and Northgate Gonzalez Market, has rebranded Pro’s Ranch Market as Los Altos Ranch Market. The name change becomes official on Wednesday, Sept.3.
Leveraging Pro's Ranch customers and employees in its research to determine the new name, CNG settled on Los Altos, a well-known region in Mexico from which both the Cardenas and Gonzalez families originated before they emigrated to the United States and became retailers. "This region represents the same traditions, rich culture and authenticity that shoppers will find when they shop Los Altos Ranch Market," the company noted.
In February 2014, Cardenas Markets and Northgate Gonzalez Market reached a successful agreement with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to purchase Phoenix-based Pro’s for $55 million. The chain consists of stores seven stores in Arizona, two in New Mexico and two in Texas. Pro's had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in May 2013.
Rebranding to Launch 6-week Celebration
"Customers will not only notice the new name and logo, but will also enjoy thousands of new items, combined with offerings that have been traditionally stocked by Pro's -- fulfilling our commitment to provide authentic, made-from-scratch products for anyone who enjoys Hispanic tastes and flavors," said Los Altos General Manager Dan Sanders. "It's truly a combination of the best of the old offerings, added with a ton of new products and an improved service experience that we think customers will love."
Since CNG’s acquisition of the supermarket chain, hundreds of local residents have been hired to staff the stores, with more hires anticipated. “Employees who transitioned from Pro’s to Los Altos Ranch Market received an average raise of 16 percent,” observed Sanders. “All of our employees are receiving expanded benefits and comprehensive training in order to foster future success. In addition, we have funded numerous scholarship programs that will help our employees grow and develop as future leaders. We want Los Altos Ranch Market to be one of the best places to work within the communities in which we serve.”
CNG's plans call for continued investment in the stores and their surrounding communities. Since taking ownership of the chain, the company has earmarked almost $10 million for Los Altos’ employee wages, benefits, training, store upgrades and community investments. Additionally, over the past few weeks alone, CNG, its vendor partners and Los Altos customers have donated about $50,000 to area charities, schools and churches.
In conjunction with the Sept. 3 rebranding, a six-week celebration will kick off, including sales and promotions on hundreds of popular in-store brands and freshly made items, weekend parking lot festivities featuring music and sampling, and discounts on local sporting events and concerts. The first 300 shoppers to visit the stores on that day will receive a free bag filled with groceries.
