Price Chopper Prepares Thanksgiving Dinner

This year, Price Chopper Supermarkets is offering time-starved customers a complete roasted turkey dinner with all of the fixings. Shoppers can choose between a 10-12 pound Plainville Farms full turkey or a 4-6 pound Plainville Farms turkey breast dinner with gravy, homestyle herb dressing, cranberry sauce, real mashed potatoes, a dozen King’s Hawaiian or fresh in-store baked dinner rolls, and an 8-inch apple or pumpkin pie. Both dinner options retail for $64.99, with additional homestyle side dishes available at an extra cost.

For the turkey-averse, Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper is also providing an “Old Fashioned” Smokehouse Off The Bone Ham holiday dinner, consisting of an approximately 5-pound ham with mashed potatoes, rolls, and an 8-inch pumpkin or apple pie, for $39.99.

“We are committed to offering the highest-quality holiday feasts for our shoppers to share with their families and friends,” said Mona Golub, Price Chopper’s VP of public relations and consumer & marketing services. “The Plainville Farms turkeys are grown without the routine use of antibiotics and without animal byproducts in the feed. The apples for our pies come from orchards in New York, and the pumpkin pie filling is made from pumpkins from Amish farmlands in Pennsylvania. All of the menu components -- the turkeys, the gravy, the cranberry sauce -- everything is prepared exclusively in the Price Chopper kitchens using all-natural ingredients, just like in home kitchens.”

Customers can place an order by calling 1-800-666-7667. Orders must be received by 4 p.m. on Nov. 18.

Meanwhile, to aid home cooks who have undertaken to prepare their own feasts, the grocer has posted a range of holiday cooking tips and recipes on its website, and videos demonstrating proper turkey preparation and carving techniques are also available online.

The Golub Corp. owns and operates 130 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Golub’s 23,000 associates collectively own 52 percent of the company’s privately held stock, making it one of the nation’s largest privately held corporations that’s predominantly employee-owned.
