Philip Scaduto Named Chair of NJ Food Council
Philip Scaduto, VP of community-based independent Food Circus Super Markets, Middletown, N.J., has been named the new chairman of the New Jersey Food Council, a regional association that represents over 250,000 people employed in the food industry.
Phil served as a member on the board for the New Jersey Food Council since 2004 and tackled many legislative issues affecting NJ food retailers. In 2010 alone these issues included gift card legislation, organized retail theft, and the plastic bag recycling effort. The Food Council has seen numerous legislative victories, while at the same time establishing and maintaining a strong financial position as an industry trade association.
“While the bar has been set high, I am confident we will continue to improve upon the Food Council’s reputation as one of the most prestigious industry associations in the country and continue our advocacy for the food industry as one of the largest employment sectors in the state of New Jersey,” said Scaduto.
The Food Council’s 2011 agenda includes the evaluation of new healthcare reform regulations, the ongoing gift card litigation, and the improvement of New Jersey’s business climate.
