Organic Snack Maker Expands Sales Team

HYANNIS, Mass. -- In a move to help it handle growing customer demand, Late July Organic Snacks here has named Karen Borie v.p. of sales, while making several other additions to its growing sales team.

With more than 25 years of management, sales, and operations experience in the consumer packaged foods industry, Borie will now head Late July's West Coast sales office in Long Beach, Calif., manage national relationships, and increase sales for the company's lines of organic crackers and future products. Borie reports to Darby Ziruk, who has been promoted to s.v.p. of sales.

"Karen's entrepreneurial spirit and sales prowess will be great assets for the Late July sales team," said Ziruk in a statement. "With the pending launch of our new organic cookie line and the increasing popularity of our sandwich crackers, she's joining the company at a time of very high-growth potential."

Borie comes to Late July from Homegrown Naturals, where she held the position of s.v.p. of sales. Her experience includes product development and strategy for Homegrown Naturals' four brands -- Annie's Homegrown, Annie's Naturals, Fantastic Foods, and Consorzio -- representing more than 350 food products. Previously Borie worked as the national sales manager for Nestle's beverage division.

Along with hiring Borie, Late July recently expanded its regional sales team with the addition of three new employees: Tom Dikeman, director of foodservice and convenience sales; Dan Kettman, director of sales, Midwest Region; and Cindy Moran, director of sales, Southeast Region.

Late July produces seven varieties of crackers and sandwich crackers, with two flavors of sandwich cookies set to hit the market.
