CARLISLE, Pa -- For National Diabetes Month, and to teach people about diabetes, Ahold USA banners Giant Food Stores, LLC; Tops Markets; and Martin's Food Markets are distributing a total of 43,000 diabetic kits to consumers across their more than 240 locations. The kits will be available to customers through the month of November, while supplies last.

PITTSBURGH - The deeply discounted generic drug movement picked up more steam late last week when Giant Eagle, Inc. here unveiled an extensive discounted generic prescription drug program in all of its Ohio supermarket pharmacies.

WICHITA, Kan. -- As part of its national "More To Share" hunger-fighting program, Cargill Meat Solutions here, producer of Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey products, will donate more than 115,000 pounds of turkey to help feed the hungry during the holidays through partnerships with retailers.

QUINCY, Mass. -- The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. here has launched its 17th annual Food for Friends program with the goal of raising over $1 million for more than 300 local hunger relief organizations throughout its Northeast market area. The program will run through Nov. 30.

KANSAS CITY -- The $4 generic drug movement picked up more steam this week when Price Chopper, this market's most pervasive grocery banner, declared it would offer more than 300 generic prescriptions at $4 each at 29 store pharmacies in the Kansas City area, plus two in Topeka and two in St. Joseph.
