The Nielsen Co. has appointed John Tavolieri, the market research company’s chief technology and operations offer, to the additional role of U.S. president for the Buy organization. Tavolieri will lead Nielsen’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and retail commercial teams servicing the United States and will be accountable for all U.S. initiatives.
In his dual role, Tavolieri will bridge and blend operational priorities of digitization, automation and consolidation. This transformation across technology, operations and people/service will permit Nielsen to increase its innovation output to bolster data quality, coverage and speed of delivery.
“This is an exciting time of transformation for Nielsen where technology is front and center,” noted Tavolieri, a 20-year veteran within the FMCG industry. “We are accelerating our investments in innovations like the Connected System, and integrating a suite of tools to handle everything from e-collection to field management to dashboarding on a global scale – enabling us to execute and deliver on the commitments we’ve made to the industry, faster than ever before. Fueled by artificial intelligence, machine learning and image recognition, this transformation will evolve Nielsen, globally to a software and data-as-a-service model, allowing our clients to operate fast, lean and accurately within the U.S. and around the world.”
Previously, Tavolieri was New York-based Nielsen’s EVP of global operations as well as the commercial leader in Western Europe, guiding commercial client engagement across sixteen countries. He will operate out of Nielsen’s Global Technology and Innovation Center in Tampa, Fla.
He succeeds Chris Morley, who has now taken the helm of Nielsen Sports, Esports and Games.
