NGA Launches Online Political Action Center

In an effort to build a strong, unified voice of the independent grocery sector on Capitol Hill, the National Grocers Association (NGA) has launched a new online Political Action Center to enable independent grocers to connect directly with their federal legislators on a number of platforms, while also integrating NGA grassroots efforts with the NGA Grocers PAC.

"The independent grocery channel plays a significant role in the nation's economy through the generation of billions in sales and the creation of reliable jobs,” said Peter J. Larkin, president and CEO, NGA. “Legislators and policymakers make decisions that impact our businesses on almost a daily basis, and it is critical that our industry is active and unified in the political process to ensure our interests are well represented."

The NGA Political Action Center will serve as a central site to educate and involve independent grocers in the political process through timely action alerts on important industry issues, legislative scorecards and most up-to-date election information on candidates nationwide. It also gives employers the opportunity to develop and deploy new, cost-effective and impactful ways to educate and motivate voters on issues important to the independent grocery industry. Additionally, the online platform helps NGA engage independent grocers through grassroots involvement, which the association says is the key to expanding influence and support on a particular issue in Washington, D.C.

The NGA is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry.
