New President of PepsiCo Sales Named

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- PepsiCo here said yesterday that Thomas R. Greco has been promoted to the position of president -- PepsiCo Sales, succeeding Al Carey, who became president and c.e.o. of the company's Frito-Lay North America (FLNA) division last month.

Greco most recently served as s.v.p. of sales at FLNA, PepsiCo's $10 billion snack and convenient foods business. As president -- PepsiCo Sales, Greco will be the company's chief customer officer, reporting to chairman and c.e.o. Steve Reinemund, with accountability for selling PepsiCo's portfolio of beverages, snacks, and foods across all retail channels. He will also oversee PepsiCo's "Power of One" cross-divisional sales strategy.

"Tom proves once again that PepsiCo is fortunate to have a wealth of proven talent ready to step quickly and seamlessly into a key leadership position," noted Reinemund in a statement. "Tom is a perfect fit for this critical role. His demonstrated effectiveness at delivering winning solutions for our customers, his deep understanding of our multiple go-to-market systems, and his ability to lead and develop people add up to a powerful combination that will meet the needs of our retail partners and PepsiCo exceptionally well."

A native of Canada, Greco joined PepsiCo in 1986 at the company's Frito Lay Canada division, where he held a range of positions in sales and marketing and eventually became a v.p. After moving to Frito-Lay's U.S. business and serving as a region v.p. in the Midwest, he rose to the position of president of Frito Lay Canada in 1999. In late 2001 he moved from Canada to serve as chief customer officer for Frito-Lay North America, and two years later he was promoted to s.v.p. of sales for FLNA.

"It's an absolute honor to be asked to represent the entire PepsiCo family to our customers and the retailers who support us every day, and to step into the role that Al Carey pioneered and mastered so well," said Greco. "I'm looking forward to building on that legacy of customer service and commitment with my Power of One colleagues and our divisional teams."

In related PepsiCo and Frito-Lay North America news, Randy Melville has been promoted to succeed Greco as s.v.p. of sales at FLNA. He will spearhead the customer strategies that fully maximize Frito-Lay's over 20,000-person sales force, and ensure that service and execution remain priorities. Melville, who has 11 years of PepsiCo sales experience at Frito-Lay and Pepsi-Cola, most recently led the sales team for Frito-Lay's South division.

PepsiCo's principal businesses include Frito-Lay snacks, Pepsi-Cola beverages, Gatorade sports drinks, Tropicana juices, and Quaker Foods as part of a portfolio of 17 brands generating $1 billion or more each in annual retail sales.
