Nash Finch Donates 1,500 Children's Books for 'Lift Up America' Event

MINNEAPOLIS -- Nash Finch Co. here donated some 1,500 books through its NFC Foundation as part of the first "Lift Up America" event at a Major League Baseball game.

In addition, Nash Finch is providing 1,500 cans of Our Family chicken noodle soup and 1,500 boxes of Our Family fruit snacks for this evening's event, which will take place at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis.

Lift Up America is a collaboration of companies working with professional and college sports teams and local nonprofit agencies to help the needy.

"At Nash Finch Co., we believe wholeheartedly that education plays a key role in building strong communities," said Alec Covington, Nash Finch c.e.o. "Our 'Feeding Imagination' educational program, which has donated more than 15,000 books since last October, gives books to help meet the pressing needs of children and agencies in our community, such as after-school and summer reading programs, literacy initiatives, and establishing a new library for students. We are pleased to add our support to the good work of Lift Up America and the other corporate and nonprofit sponsors of this event."
