Nash Finch Awards Two Retailers Truckloads of Free Product

MINNEAPOLIS -- Nash Finch Co. here recently recognized two retailers on their superb performance during a recently conducted Truckload Sale promotion.

The grand prize winners, EconoMart in Williston, N.D. and Springboro IGA in Springboro, Ohio, received a full truckload of free Our Family or IGA products in recognition of their creative involvement in the event. In addition to the two grand prize winners, runners-up received full and half pallets of free Our Family or IGA products.

EconoMart, owned and operated by Mike Kraft, conducted a variety of sales-enhancing activities, including Our Family parking lot picnics, on-air live radio interviews with customers, and a cowboy-themed environment throughout the store. As part of National Preparedness Month, EconoMart also teamed up with the Williston Fire Department to provide customers with emergency supply kits loaded with Our Family products. The Williston EconoMart also showcased its merchandising, taking advantage of clement weather to build huge outdoor displays of Our Family products.

John Moreland, owner of the Springboro IGA, hosted a truckload sale featuring free ice cream, puppet shows, a grand reopening ribbon cutting, moonwalk entertainment, car shows, and pork dinners. The event created so much excitement that checkout lines backed up some 15 carts deep. A local newspaper also ran an article featuring the store and the traffic the event created, including a parking lot so packed that it caused traffic congestion at a nearby stoplight.

Nash Finch provided every participating retailer with banners, balloons, in-store signs, and special deals on Our Family or IGA products, and plans to host similar selling events in the future in light of the outstanding success of the most recent promotional event.

Nash Finch's core food distribution arm serves independent retailers and military commissaries in 28 states, the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Iceland, the Azores, and Honduras. The company also owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center, and Sun Mart trade names.
