Monster Cheeses to Roll Into Stew Leonard’s
Stew Leonard’s four stores in Connecticut and New York will host Il Giardino Provolone Gigante, a giant provolone cheese, in their deli departments on Thursday, Oct. 6. Customers at each location could win a $50 gift card by correctly guessing the exact weight of the massive cheeses, each of which has an approximate diameter of 18 inches and is about 7 feet long. Il Giardino Provolone Gigante will be on display at each Stew Leonard’s location until Nov. 1, at which point they will be sliced and sold.
Stew’s deli managers will also offer a menu of free Italian food, including soppressata, olives, and crusty Italian bread, to sample alongside the provolone during Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 8-10.
Handcrafted in Wisconsin by a fourth-generation Italian cheesemaker, Il Giardino Provolone Gigante is aged 9 months until it features a sharp, piquant flavor, a semi-firm texture and a distinctive ivory color.
Norwalk, Conn.-based Stew Leonard’s operates four stores in Norwalk, Danbury and Newington, Conn., and Yonkers, N.Y.
