Milk Refunds Available in 15 States

Grocery shoppers who purchased milk in 15 states and the District of Columbia in the past 14 years are eligible to claim part of a $52 million class action settlement from an alliance of milk producers.

Members of Arlington, Va.-based Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) were accused of prematurely culling their dairy herds to limit milk production and drive up prices. CWT, which has denied the allegations, was created by the National Milk Producers Federation, also based in Arlington, in 2003 and includes Dairy Farmers of America, Land O’Lakes, Dairylea Cooperative and Agri-Mark among its members.

To be eligible to join the class action, consumers must have purchased milk or milk products since 2003 in Washington, D.C., or the following states: Arizona, California, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada , New Hampshire, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin, NBCChicago.com reported.

Deadline to file claims at www.boughtmilk.com is Jan. 31.

According to the Bought Milk website, eligible consumers may receive payments of $10 to $20.
