Marsh Prenatal Scripts Save Families $1M

Marsh Supermarkets’ Prenatal Select Program has saved Indiana families $1 million since its launch in January 2008, the Indianapolis-based grocer announced.

Marsh was the first supermarket pharmacy in Indiana—and the first chain retailer in the nation—to launch such a program, which provides expectant mothers with free prescription-strength prenatal vitamins through Marsh’s 40 pharmacies in Indiana. Since its inception, the program has provided free vitamins to more than 3,600 Hoosier women.

“Our commitment to families and communities extends well beyond offering quality food items at competitive prices,” said Joe Kelley, Marsh chairman, CEO and president. “Healthy families are an important contributor to healthy communities, and Marsh is proud to help support the development of healthy families.”

Through the Marsh Prenatal Select Program, expectant mothers receive free prenatal supplements with a doctor’s prescription. The supplements are dispensed in a 30-day supply with refills up to one year or more.

The Marsh Prenatal Select Program also includes nutrition and wellness resources, including online access to a registered dietitian and helpful tips and guidance for leading a healthy lifestyle.

Marsh pharmacies can help new moms with breast pump rentals and related supplies. New moms also can enroll in the Marsh Baby Club, which provides Marsh shoppers with opportunities to earn rewards and receive discounts on items such as baby wipes and diapers.

Marsh operates 70 Marsh stores, including three O’Malia’s Supermarkets and 27 MainStreet Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 40 Indiana pharmacy locations.
