Market Street Holds International Food Expo

Market Street will provide a passport to global cuisine during International Food Expo taking place April 9-10 at all 10 of the gourmet grocery store chain’s locations in north and west Texas. Hours for the event are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Attendees will be able to sample tastes of the world in store aisles, encounter new destinations in each department. Market Street “ambassadors” representing countries such as France, Australia, Italy and Japan will provide free samples of authentic national cuisines, in addition to cultural and nutritional information on featured food items and products.

“At our International Food Expo, we’ll try and capture the many flavors and cultures of food and beverages from around the world through our in-store product offerings,” explained Wes Jackson, chief merchandising officer for Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarket, LLC, the parent company of Market Street. “As guests make their way around the store, they can learn about these products while finding various ways to expand their palates to enjoy foods that have an international flair.”

Among the featured foods at the event will be all-natural, butter croissants, all-natural artisan baguettes and crème brulee desserts from France; Spanish cheeses served with crackers; Italian tomato basil and artichoke mushroom bruschetta served with crackers; Greek avocado and feta salad; Mexican salsa mix; Italian sodas; wines from Argentina, Australia, Chile, Germany, Italy and Mexico; and arrangements of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils from Holland.

The International Food Expo is the third of five similar events hosted annually by Market Street. On tap for later this year are the Best of Texas Expo, spotlighting products from The Lone Star State, July 23-24, and the Entertaining Made Easy Expo, Nov. 5-6.
