Lowes Foods Testing Express Delivery Service
As a convenience to customers, Lowes Foods is testing a “Lowes Foods To Go” Express service in two stores each in North Carolina’s Forsyth and Hickory counties, according to a published report. The Winston-Salem, N.C.-based grocer has offered “Lowes Foods to Go,” a personal shopping service that enables customers to place orders online or by phone and then pick them up later, since 1997 in some of its stores.
Shoppers normally have to order Lowes Foods To Go items three hours in advance, but the new express service allows customers purchasing 15 items or fewer to pick them up in an hour or under.
“The key here is everybody’s busy,” Lowes director of customer loyalty Ted Moser told the Winston-Salem Journal. "We know people are in a hurry and have a limited amount of time. They want to get in and get out fast.”
The name of the game is shopper loyalty, according to Moser. “If it’s a service that makes the lives of our customers easier, then we think they’ll choose us over the competition,” he told the newspaper.
Lowes operates more than 100 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
