Kroger’s Delta Div. Delivers Truckloads of Water for Tornado Relief
Kroger’s Delta Division has kicked its relief efforts in high gear with a much needed donation of two emergency truckloads of water to the Mississippi Food Network, which is also working directly with partner agencies the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross, to supply food and water as needed to the communities affected by the tornadoes that ripped across Mississippi this past weekend, leaving much devastation in their paths.
In addition, central and southern Mississippi Kroger stores in the areas of Jackson, Vicksburg, Laurel, McComb, West Point, Cleveland, Starkville, Columbus and Greenville are enlisting the help of customers through donations, either via cash contributions that can be made through cashiers at any Kroger store; scannable $1, $2 or $10 donor cards located at the register and added to customers’ grocery bill; or dropping loose change into coin boxes located at the register.
“The funds will be distributed to the Mississippi Food Network,” said Joe Bell, marketing and public affairs manager for Cincinnati-based Kroger’s Delta division, which will in turn “use these funds to replenish emergency supplies of their partnering agencies.”
Last year, the Memphis, Tenn.-based division, which operates 111 stores and 60 fuel centers in five states under the Kroger banner, contributed more than $1 million to the local communities it serves in tandem with its charitable efforts regarding hunger relief, education and women’s health issues.
