Jim Dorey Named Prez of Price Rite Marketplace

11/30/2017

Jim Dorey has become president of Price Rite Marketplace, a registered trademark of Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp., the largest supermarket cooperative in the United States.

Succeeding Neil Duffy, who retired in October, Dorey will spearhead the banner’s recently revealed comprehensive rebrand over the next year by rolling out fresh, modern store décor, signage and private label items to all 65 Price Rite Marketplace stores across nine states. He’ll also oversee all aspects of the business, including sales, merchandising, marketing, retail operations, human resources and corporate administration. “By introducing new products and curating the very best of its selection for customers, Price Rite remains committed to delivering low prices, high quality goods and friendly service in a simpler, streamlined shopping experience,” the company said.

Dorey joined Wakefern in 2004 as manager of real estate, rising to hold various management roles in procurement, where he supported both the frozen food and dairy divisions. He moved to the Price Rite team in 2009, where his most recent role was EVP, in which capacity he worked closely with Duffy as he prepared to take the helm as president.

“Jim has consistently demonstrated the leadership traits and vision to position Price Rite Marketplace for success even in the face of major market changes, competitive challenges and a changing business landscape,” noted Joe Sheridan, president and COO of Wakefern, whose members operate stores mainly under the ShopRite banner. “It’s an exciting time for Price Rite as we refresh our stores with new décor and private label products, and Jim will help lead the company in this next step forward.”

Price Rite employs more than 4,000 people in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland, and Virginia.
