Hy-Vee to Serve Free Vet Breakfast

Hy-Vee stores throughout the Midwest will once again honor America’s veterans on Veterans Day this Friday morning with a free breakfast in appreciation of their service to the country.

The event has grown in popularity each of the last several years, with more than 80,000 free breakfasts served in 2010, according to Randy Edeker, Hy-Vee president. “Hy-Vee’s veterans breakfast is one of the most rewarding activities we sponsor each year,” Edeker said. “It’s an opportunity for communities to come together to thank our veterans for the sacrifices they have made to secure our freedoms.”

The buffet is complimentary for veterans and open to others at a small cost. Some stores have planned programs, displays, entertainment or other activities to go along with the breakfast.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Inc. is an employee-owned corporation operating 235 retail stores in eight Midwestern states.
