Hornbacher’s, Bruggeman’s Purchase Super One Stores
Hornbacher’s is purchasing a Super One grocery store in Grand Forks, N.D., and Bruggeman’s is buying another Super One location in Thief River Falls. Both stores are currently owned by Miner’s Inc., which will continue to operate the stores until the transactions are finalized in early August.
“We’re absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to bring Hornbacher’s to the Grand Forks area,” said Matt Leiseth, Hornbacher’s president. “We’re truly looking forward to being a part of this great community, providing a terrific grocery store experience to our customers, and continuing to provide employment opportunities to store employees.”
This will be the first Hornbacher’s location outside of the Fargo-Moorhead region where the company operates seven stores.
The Thief River Falls store will be converted to Bruggemann’s Supervalu, which currently operates one store in Mahnomen, Minn.
“This is an exciting opportunity for our business and our family,” said Rob Bruggeman, owner and president of Bruggeman’s Supervalu. “As a single store owner for the past 29 years, we know the importance of a hands-on approach to running a grocery store. Our customer service and community focus helped make us successful in Mahnomen and we plan to bring the same level of service and commitment to this store and the Thief River Falls community.”
Miner’s, based in Duluth, Minn., operates 35 grocery stores in Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota and Wisconsin. “We’re happy that Hornbacher’s and Bruggeman’s are the two retailers acquiring these grocery stores,” said James Miner Jr., Miner’s president and CEO. “Both retailers have a strong focus on customer service and are known for making their stores a key part of the local communities. This is really a good outcome for our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and the local communities.”
Hornbacher’s and Bruggemann’s are both members Supervalu.
