Heinz Drives to Make Super Bowl Monday a National Holiday

In a bid to bring some of the greatness of Super Bowl Sunday into Monday, iconic condiment brand Heinz has launched a petition to create a new national holiday: SMUNDAY.

“The Heinz brand doesn’t settle on delivering superior taste or quality, and we don’t believe America should have to settle on the day after the best sports day of the year,” explained Nicole Kulwicki, who heads up the Heinz brand family. “Statistics show over 16 million people are expected to call in ‘sick’ or plan to miss work on the day after the Big Game. Making SMUNDAY a national holiday means people all over the country can officially make Monday a day to celebrate, too.”

Pittsburgh-based Kraft Heinz is kicking off the campaign with a Change.org petition encouraging Americans to stand behind SMUNDAY. The goal is to get 100,000 signatures, which, when reached, will be sent to Congress in hopes of making the dream a reality.

Putting its money where its mouth is, Kraft Heinz is giving salaried employees across all of its U.S.-based brands the day off on Monday, Feb. 6.

“The Heinz brand encourages all of America to never settle and join in the effort to make SMUNDAY an official national holiday,” noted Kulwicki.
