Harris Teeter Turns on ‘Carolina Charm’ to Promote Area Brands
For the second straight year, Harris Teeter is shining the spotlight on local products with Carolina Charm, a program featuring 16 North and South Carolina brands available at the Southeast regional grocer’s 230-plus stores. The program will run through the end of September.
Among the participating brands, some of them dating back to the 1800s, are Cheerwine, Duke's Mayonnaise, Texas Pete, Butterball and Burt’s Bees. A key aim of the program is to support area businesses, which drives money directly back into the Carolinas’ economy.
Describing the program lineup as a "vibrant selection of local products" manufactured by "hard-working families," Danna Robinson, communication manager for Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter, noted, "Our company was born and raised here in North Carolina, so participating in a program like Carolina Charm allows us to not only put these brands center stage and educate our shoppers on the rich legacy of our Carolina brands, but it also helps us remain true to our roots."
Further, Harris Teeter is offering VIC (Very Important Customer) card deals on Carolina Charm items, and a sweepstakes for the chance to win a trip to Pinehurst Resort, in North Carolina.
A wholly owned subsidary of The Kroger Co., in Cincinnati, Harris Teeter last ran Carolina Charm in the fall of 2014.
