Harris Teeter, MillerCoors Cater Military Families’ Holiday Dinners
Harris Teeter and MillerCoors are donating holiday dinners to 400 military families served by Operation Homefront (OH). The Matthews, N.C.-based grocery chain is providing the meals as part of its annual Harvest Feast Food Drive and Donation Card Campaign.
The dinners will be served on the afternoon of Nov. 20 at the Washington D.C., National Guard Armory.
MillerCoors began its partnership with San Antonio-based OH, which offers emergency financial and other assistance to the families of service members and injured veterans, in 2009 through its Miller Lite brand, and the Thanksgiving meal distribution is just part of the beer company’s overall efforts to help service members year-round. Harris Teeter also maintains a strong relationship with members of the military and their families through its support of USO, as well as “Believe in Heroes,” a Wounded Warrior Project initiative.
“Some military families struggle all year long to put food on the table for their families,” noted Vivian Dietrich, president serving OH D.C. Metro Chapter, adding that the donation would enable “families in the D.C. metro area, where food costs are especially high, [to] enjoy a traditional holiday dinner.”
Chicago-based MillerCoors is the second-largest beer company in the United States, capturing nearly 30 percent of beer sales in the United States and Puerto Rico.
