H-E-B and Wegmans Earn Employee Choice Awards

Four grocery chains were chosen among the 50 winners of Glassdoor.com’s ninth annual Employees’ Choice Awards honoring the Best Places to Work in 2017 across North America and parts of Europe. Placing at the top of the retailers on Glassdoor’s employee rankings is H-E-B (27), followed by Trader Joe’s (33), Costco (34) and Wegmans Food Markets (50).

In addition to the four food retailers, Clorox, E. & J. Gallo Winery (47) and QuikTrip (48) also ranked on Glassdoor’s Employees Choice list, which is largely dominated by technology-based companies.

The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards – which comprise two categories for U.S.-based companies, including 50 Best Places to Work (honoring employers with 1,000 or more employees) and 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work For (honoring employers with less than 1,000 employees) – are based solely on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback by completing a company review about their job, work environment and employer during the past year. Winners are ranked based on their overall rating achieved during the past year. (Ratings based on a 5-point scale: 1.0=very dissatisfied, 3.0=OK, 5.0=very satisfied).

“Company culture and the employee experience are critical considerations for job seekers everywhere when deciding where to work. To help, the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards recognize companies that truly stand out as Best Places to Work because they’re purely determined by the authentic voice of those who really know a company best – the employees,” said Robert Hohman, Glassdoor CEO and co-founder. “Employers where employees love to work continue to prove that they have a recruiting and business performance edge. We’re proud to celebrate the 2017 Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards winners in earning this incredible achievement.”
