Giant Landover Introduces ‘No Antibiotics Ever’ Pork
Giant Food of Landover, Md., has launched the Giant Private Brand “No Antibiotics Ever” line of pork products in all of its stores. As well as containing zero antibiotics and hormones, the affordably priced product line, which consists of bone-in chops, boneless chops and boneless sirloin chops, is 100 percent vegetarian-fed.
“Giant Food is excited to continue developing products that taste great, are in step with consumer trends and offer customers our own line of Giant Private Brand ‘No Antibiotics Ever’ pork selections,” said Giant Food President Gordon Reid. “With this addition, we further promote our commitment to providing customers with the highest-quality fresh pork products that allow them to eat well while saving money.”
The pork cuts are called out in store by the Giant Food logo and the “No Antibiotics Ever” label in the meat case.
The Ahold Delhaize banner offers a variety of private-brand products, ranging from household items to snacks and produce. Last year, Giant Food rolled out Nature’s Promise brand antibiotic and growth-hormone-free turkeys, which will be reintroduced for the upcoming Thanksgiving season.
Meanwhile, the chain's parent company noted in reporting its second-quarter 2017 financials that it was "[continuing] to improve the price positioning of our Ahold USA brands," of which Giant Food is one.
Giant Food operates 167 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, employing about 20,000 associates.
