Giant-Landover Introduces ‘Ca$h for Causes’

Giant Food LLC, based in Landover, Md., has rolled out “Ca$h for Causes,” a program that makes it easier for the region’s nonprofit organization to raise funds.

Under the program, nonprofits can buy Giant gift cards at a 5 percent discount ($500 minimum purchase required) and make the cards available for friends and supporters to purchase at face value. The difference between the discounted purchase price and the full face value adds up to proceeds for the organizations.

“Ca$h for Causes continues our commitment as the Nation’s Capital Grocer to give back to those who seek to improve their community,” said Jamie Miller, Giant Food’s manager, public and community relations. “Seventy-seven years ago, when the Cohen and Lehrman families collaborated to open the very first supermarket in our nation’s capital, the public was at the forefront of their minds. We’ve inherited a priceless legacy, which we’re privileged to build upon each and every day.”

Organizations must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits to participate in Ca$h for Causes.
