Giant Eagle Celebrates ‘Apples for the Students’

Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Apples for the Students program with special bonus events and contests for participating schools to obtain even more educational awards upwards of $60,000.

The Apples for the Students program allows shoppers to register their Giant Eagle Advantage Cards and help earn points for their chosen school. With every scan or swipe of a registered card at the cash register, a school can build its point base.

The school uses the points to order free educational awards such as health and wellness items, classroom technology, playground equipment, arts supplies, music enrichment items and science materials.

During the anniversary year, Giant Eagle is offering special bonus opportunities and donating more than $1 million to area schools for purchases made with registered cards through March 17. The retailer has donated more than $30 million in educational awards through the program in the last 25 years.

Giant Eagle has created an online tool kit for schools to easily access the program and its benefits.
