FreshDirect Expands FoodKick App to Manhattan
Online grocer FreshDirect is now offering FoodKick, its mobile-first food delivery business providing a curated selection of fresh food, alcohol, local goods and everyday essentials, all delivered in as little as an hour, in Manhattan. Introduced in early 2016 in Brooklyn and Queens, Foodkick's mobile iOS and Android apps now serve communities throughout Manhattan as well.
With FoodKick, customers can shop from an offering that changes multiple times daily, with offerings including ripe seasonal produce, meal hacks, local favorites, and booze delivered cold. Additionally, shoppers can select from a wider assortment of pantry staples, home essentials, prepared meals, fresh meat and seafood, and specialty items, among other products
“We’ve seen an incredible response to FoodKick since launching earlier this year, with demand exceeding our expectations,” said Jason Ackerman, co-founder and CEO of Long Island City, N.Y.-based FreshDirect “Our new business is designed to provide urban dwellers who are living spontaneous lives a new option for getting great food for a night in, a pop-up gathering, or last-minute needs within the hour. With the expansion of FoodKick into Manhattan, it’s within our sights to be the biggest food provider for New York.”
FoodKick Manhattan also features content-driven programming with brand partner Coca-Cola in a series of activations highlighting “drinks served cold” messaging, tailored to the on-demand customer. Further, various local and exclusive products from such partners as Bien Cuit Bakery, Baked by Melissa, RISE Coffee and Doughnut Plant are available.
Manhattan operations are based at FoodKick’s new Midtown West location, while the Brooklyn and Queens operations continue to be based at the company’s Williamsburg (Brooklyn) location.
FreshDirect delivers directly to customers throughout five states, including the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas.
