Food Lion Debuts Mobile App

Food Lion has introduced a mobile app that helps users more easily plan meals and save money in stores.

The new app incorporates a digital MVP card, which allows cashiers to scan a customer’s MVP card directly from a smartphone screen, and access to My Wallet, which helps keep track of savings to date and coupons loaded to a card. A shopping list lets customers conveniently populate by scanning items at home; browse the weekly ad, coupons and recipes; and even view items by aisle in their preferred store. Additionally, a recipe finder allows for simple meal planning by scanning bar codes, or searching for recipes based on ingredients on hand. Customers also may add ingredients to shopping lists and save favorite recipes for later.

"With the launch of the Food Lion Mobile App, we strive to make it easy to shop while making it even easier to save,” said Deborah Sabo, VP of marketing at Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion. “This convenient tool is packed with features to make customers' lives easier, including the ability to tell a shopper the exact aisle where products on their shopping list are located."

Food Lion, an Ahold Delhaize company, operates more than 1,000 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, employing more than 63,000 associates.
