Food Emporium Unit Launches Gourmet Picnic Program
MONTVALE, N.J. -- New York-area gourmet retailer The Food Emporium, a banner of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. here, is introducing "Picnic in the Park," a program of four store-prepared gourmet picnic lunches, at its Bridgemarket location at 59th Street in Manhattan.
The program offers four separate selections: Lunch in the Park, Lunch in a Meadow, The Salad Buffet, and The Fruit and Cheese Basket. Each consists of a variety of the grocer's signature items, among them gourmet deli sandwiches, fresh-baked artisan breads, imported aged cheeses, and desserts.
Lunch in the Park offers one entree sandwich from the choices of Cobb Salad Sandwich, Roast Beef with Roumolade Dressing Sandwich, Tuna with Dried Cranberries and Walnuts Sandwich, and Roast Pork with Chutney Sandwich.
Each sandwich is accompanied by chips, seasonal fresh fruit, a choice of a Gourmet Brownie or Food Emporium's Outrageous Cookies, and a beverage. The price is $15.99 per person for one to six people, and the order comes in a Food Emporium shopping tote.
Lunch in a Meadow offers a choice of one entree sandwich, either Fresh Baguette with Madrange Ham, butter and cornichons or Smoked Turkey Wrap with Sweet-Curry Mayonnaise, complemented by fresh ripe strawberries dipped in gourmet chocolate, an assortment of cheeses and crackers, a fresh fruit salad, and beverage, for $17.99 per person for one to six people.
The lighter Salad Buffet allows customers to choose from such selections as Asian Chicken Salad with Soy Sesame Chicken and Napa Cabbage, Salade Nicoise with White Albacore Tuna, and Imported Olives, Haricots Verts and Garden Greens. Together with beverage, The Salad Buffet costs $15.99 per person for one to six diners.
The Fruit and Cheese Basket features a variety of aged domestic and imported cheeses, including brie, pepper jack, chevere, Swiss and cheddar; a fresh-fruit assortment such as strawberries, grapes, kiwi, pears and locally grown apples, and a freshly baked baguette. Available at $19.99 per person, this offering is prepared for a minimum of three people.
