Flu Shots Now at Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. LLC and Giant Food of Landover, Md., again offering flu vaccinations at all of its in-store pharmacies. No appointment is needed, and walk-in vaccinations are provided by the Ahold USA divisions' pharmacists during regular pharmacy hours.

Stop & Shop is committed to providing health-and-wellness solutions across our store -- from the produce department to the pharmacy,” said Joel Berman, director of pharmacy at Stop & Shop New England division in Quincy, Mass.“Because of increased costs, many customers are looking for affordable solutions to keep themselves and their families healthy. We’re glad to do our part by offering convenient and affordable immunizations each year.” Stop & Shop operates more than 400 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey,

"Flu shots are reformulated every year, so it's important people are vaccinated on an annual basis," added Gayle Shields, director of pharmacy operations at Giant, which  has 159 in-store pharmacies within the 173 stores it operates in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.

The cost for a flu shot is $30, and many major insurance plans, along with Medicare, are accepted. The chains have also teamed with various health-related vendors to offer a free coupon book worth more than $30 in savings on health-and-wellness items such as tissues, while supplies last, to customers who get a flu shot.

The banners also made sure their pharmacies and health departments are well stocked to deal with flu-related prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. Additionally, in-store pharmacists are available to provide on-site flu shot clinics at workplaces and businesses throughout the communities Stop & Shop and Giant serve.
