Campbell Further Reduces Sodium in Kids' Soups

Campbell Soup Co. is continuing its mission to reduce sodium in its products with its 12 newly reformulated Campbell's Kids soups, which now contain 480 milligrams of sodium per serving. The varieties, including Campbell's Chicken & Stars, Double Noodle, and Chicken NoodleO's soups, now meet the government criteria for "healthy" foods: controlled for fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium, as well as being a good source of a positive nutrient such vitamin A.

Counting the newly formulated soups, Campbell now offers a total of 78 soups at healthy sodium levels. The company is employing a combination of lower-sodium natural sea salt and innovative flavor design in these soups.

"We know how important it is for Mom to feel good about what she serves her family, so reducing the sodium in our kids soup to the healthy level has been a top priority for Campbell," noted Eric Christianson, director, Campbell's Condensed Soup.

Containing no MSGs, preservatives, or artificial flavors, the reformulated soups feature 110 calories or fewer, three grams fat or less, and zero grams of trans fat. The suggested retail price for the products, which are on shelves now, is $1.38 to $1.69.

Camden, N.J.-based Campbell portfolio of market-leading brands includes Campbell's, Pepperidge Farm, and V8.
