Brookshire's Recognized by AHA for Corporate Health, Wellness

Brookshire Grocery Co. has been named a gold-level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association (AHA) for promoting a corporate culture of health and wellness.

AHA recognized Brookshire's for its slate of corporate-level wellness initiatives, which include offering physical activity support and improved healthy food options in break rooms; establishing an active wellness committee; providing an on-site fitness center and walking trail; offering health screenings and programs; and promoting employee health through organized challenges and events, such as the annual FRESH 15 race hosted in March.

Companies can apply on an annual basis for basic gold-level recognition and/or advanced platinum-level recognition.

Tyler, Texas-based Brookshire Grocery Co. operates 152 stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
