Bi-Lo Overhauls Customer Rx Program

Bi-Lo has introduced in all of its pharmacies an enhanced prescription program that offers deep discounts on more than 450 generic medications and varied discounts on name-brand and other generic medication. The initiative also now runs through the grocer’s existing free Bi-Lo Bonuscard program.

“Not everyone has insurance or health benefits that adequately cover prescriptions,” noted John Fegan, VP of pharmacy for Bi-Lo, a subsidiary of Mauldin, S.C.-based Bi-Lo Holding, which employs 63,000 associates in 687 grocery stores and 493 in-store pharmacies under the Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie banners in eight southeastern states. “This program makes it easier for our customers to get the prescriptions they need affordably so they can focus on their health -- not on how much it costs.”

For an annual enrollment fee of $5, program enrollees will receive such expanded benefits as easy activation though their cards, a $5 store coupon automatically loaded to the card, $4 30-day and $10 90-day pricing on more than 450 generic drugs, discounts on brands and other generic medications, a list of free antibiotics, free blood pressure medication, free diabetes medication, ongoing promotions and specials, and fuelperks! Rewards on prescription purchases.

Customers who already have Bonuscards can enroll by bringing the cards to the pharmacy counter. Customers without cards can sign up for a card and the prescription program at the same time.

“This expanded program offers significantly deeper services to our customers, provides a wider array of discounted medications, and is significantly easier for our customers to use now that it runs directly through our Bonuscard,” added Fegan.
