A&P Stores Welcome ‘Supermarket Superstar’ Winner

Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. (A&P) customers had the chance this weekend to meet Tekisha Collins, winner of Lifetime’s “Supermarket Superstar” reality competition series, at select A&P, Pathmark and Waldbaum’s stores.

Collins’ winning creation is the Smoogy, a frozen cookie sandwich with a flavored cheesecake filling that’s sold exclusively in the A&P family of supermarkets. The item comes in Chocolate Fudge and Original Lemon flavors.

“It is … simply a dream come true … that the Smoogy [is] available in A&P supermarkets,” said Collins, who shared her inspirational story with customers, as well as samples of her product.

Collins visited stores in Staten Island, N.Y.; Jersey City, N.J.; Edgewater, N.J.; Flushing, N.Y.; and Thornwood, N.Y.

Montvale, N.J.-based A&P operates more than 300 stores in six states under the following banners: A&P, Best Cellars, Food Basics, The Food Emporium, Pathmark, Superfresh and Waldbaum’s.

“Supermarket Superstar” pitted three home chefs against each other to see which one would get his or her product picked up by A&P.
