Anuga Show to Highlight Good 'Taste'

COLOGNE -- Food and beverage manufacturers across the globe are gearing up for the special "Taste" innovation competition to be held during Anuga, one of the largest food trade shows in the world, here in October.

The competition, which is open to all Anuga exhibitors, has already begun, and the deadline for submitting innovations is Aug. 31.

Products selected by an expert jury will be showcased in the middle of the north end of the Boulevard on the new exhibition grounds. Parallel to the show, the top innovations will also be publicized in the Taste '07 catalogue and on the Anuga Web site (www.anuga.com).

Taste presents products not only for the retail trade but also for the growing foodservice and catering market and new sales channels.

Approximately 500 suppliers presented more than 1,000 products at the last Anuga for entry into the catalogue and the special show, according to Anuga's organizers. In the end, 52 products and concepts were selected.

With more than 6,000 exhibiting companies from around 100 different countries, Anuga is the world's largest trade fair for the food and beverage industry. It is divided into 10 specialist fairs to offer a unique overview of the world market to the trade and the foodservice and catering market. Some 160,000 international trade visitors are expected to attend this year's fair, which will be held Oct. 13-17.
