Allegiance Adds Six Foodtown Stores

Allegiance Retail Services LLC, which provides its members with marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support, as well as a full line of Foodtown private label products, now has six more stores operating under the Foodtown name. The stores, operated by the Ferreira and Mujalli families, bring the total number of Allegiance stores to 84.

The Ferreiras have converted all five of their stores -- three in Queens and two in Long Island’s Nassau County -- to what they called the “well-known and trusted” banner. “By joining Allegiance, we are better positioned to provide a more competitively priced store and an overall better shopping experience to our customers,” said Jason Ferreira.

Meanwhile, the Mujallis marked the grand opening of a ground-up supermarket in the Queens neighborhood of Astoria. According to Moe Mujalli, “The strong merchandising and marketing programs Foodtown offers will allow us to meet the diverse needs of this vibrant community.”

“Having the Ferreira family and Mujalli family -- both long-term operators in the New York City marketplace -- join Allegiance is truly exciting,” noted Michael Stolarz, president and COO of Iselin, N.J.-based Allegiance, adding that the “well-known and successful operators have recognized the professional services [the company] provides to assist them to grow their business.”

Added David Maniaci, Allegiance’s chairman and CEO, “It is wonderful to welcome six new Foodtowns to the Allegiance Co-op and continue our growth of high-quality operators in New York.”
