Albertsons Cooks Up All Natural Signature Ground Beef

BOISE, Idaho -- Adding more firepower to its premium store brand mix, Albertsons based here is rolling out Wild Harvest all natural ground beef products in its Philadelphia-based Acme Markets and Chicago-based Jewel-Osco divisions.

The new items, which include Angus ground beef round, Angus ground beef chuck, and Angus beef burger frozen patties, will be available in stores beginning this week.

The new Wild Harvest all natural ground beef products come from source-verified, hormone- and antibiotic-free Angus cattle that feed on an all-vegetarian diet.

"More than ever, customers are looking for more all natural alternatives across all departments in our stores," said Duncan MacNaughton, Albertsons merchandising e.v.p. "With the introduction of Wild Harvest Angus ground beef, we are making it easy for our all natural customers to pick up delicious, high-quality, all natural beef products for their families every time they shop with us."

The Wild Harvest nomenclature hails from Albertsons' New England-based Shaw's division, as an extension of the chain's natural and organic brand and accompanying "store within a store" Wild Harvest concept. That program is being expanded to stores operating under additional Albertsons banners nationwide.

Operating approximately 2,500 stores in 37 states across the U.S., Albertsons employs approximately 240,000 associates throughout its network of stores that include Albertsons, Acme, Shaw's, Jewel-Osco, Sav-on Drugs, Osco Drug, and Star Market, as well as Super Saver and Bristol Farms, which are operated independently.
