Chelsea, Mass.-based al fresco all natural, maker of gourmet chicken sausage, has introduced chicken bacon in uncured ready-to-cook and uncured ready-to eat varieties. The bacon is naturally cured, with no nitrates, nitrites or artificial ingredients; the ingredients are water, raw sugar, sea salt and celery powder. Chicken bacon reportedly has 70 percent less fat than traditional pork bacon; two slices contain 30 calories. a 3-ounce package of fully cooked bacon contains 14 slices in two seven-slice easy-open pouches.
