X06 Marketplace to Merge Technology and Design at NRF Annual Convention

WASHINGTON -- The National Retail Federation (NRF) said yesterday it will unveil the X06 Marketplace, an upscale gourmet market that demonstrates the most futuristic design components and technologies available to retailers, at its 95th Annual Convention & Expo, Jan. 15 to Jan. 18, 2006 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

"The NRF BIG Show is the only event that brings retailers the 'store of the future' today, allowing them to experience firsthand the latest in technology and in-store design," said NRF president and c.e.o. Tracy Mullin in a statement. "Delivering state-of-the-art retail innovations, the X06 Marketplace will forever change the customer experience."

At the exhibit, attendees will have the opportunity to experience how architectural design and technology can be combined to customize the consumer's shopping experience. They will able to interact within technological scenarios where the customer holds power over shopping information and services, like picking out the perfect wine using RFID technology, browsing the Virtual Recipe Library with their handheld shopping assistant, or viewing digital media screens.

In addition, the Marketplace will feature an Employee and Management Workplace, where system technologies keep employees and managers in touch through the use of the latest technology software and hardware. X06 is being produced in partnership with Hybridia Design, which specializes in retail store design and visual imaging.
