Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! Attacks Supermarket Aisle

When grocery shopping, consumers will find it hard to miss “Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!” The Emmy-Award winning animated kids series has signed cross-promotional deals with Minute Rice, On-Cor Frozen Foods, The Joy Cone Co., Darling Clementines and Jolly Time Pop Corn.

Minute Rice will promote the series on 3 million packages through October. It will dangle a $3 mail-in rebate for the purchase of any “Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!” DVD and a 14-ounce box of rice.

On-Cor will also be promoting a $3 rebate offer, with the purchase of a DVD and two family-size entrees, from Oct. 11 through December. The promotion will be advertised via a free-standing insert hitting 23 million households. From November 2009 to February 2010, consumers will also have an opportunity to claim a $3 mail-in rebate when purchasing a DVD and a 5-pound bag or 2- or 3-pound bag of Darling Clementines fruits.

Through September, consumers who buy a DVD and select Joy Cone products can receive a free plush toy. And, in conjunction with participating Meijer stores, consumers who purchase a DVD can get free Jolly Time Pop Corn through September.

Of the array of packaged goods deals, Julie Cartwright, SVP of brand marketing at Troy, Mich.-based Anchor Bay Entertainment, said in a statement, “Each one [of the companies] is tops in their field and will help augment the fun and relatable qualities of Wubbzy among children and families all across the country.” Anchor Bay, a division of Burbank, Calif.-based Starz Media, LLC, distributes “Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!” on DVD.
