World Tea Expo to Get Bigger

LAS VEGAS -- With sales are expected to reach nearly $7 billion by the end of 2007 and exceed $10 billion by the end of 2010, tea is a hot commodity. That's why when the 2008 World Tea Expo is held here on May 30 through June 1, 350 exhibitors are expected to host 33 percent more attendees than at previous shows. For that reason the event will take place on larger exhibit floor at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Organizers said that at the show, buyers can expect to see a broader variety of tea and tea-related products in a broad range of categories, among them tea wholesalers and packers; bulk, bagged and ready-to-drink teas; tea bagging equipment and packaging suppliers; gourmet foods, giftware, tea jewelry, chocolate and other confectionary items.

For 2008, the event will roll out a number new features, including a leaner and more robust core educational conference; a Cupping Pavilion on the show floor that will enable buyers to cup and compare samples from exhibitors on the spot and place orders at the show; and the first-ever World Tea Championship, a hot-tea competition with submissions by exhibitors from around the world and judged by a panel of professional tea cuppers and experts.
