Wonder Who's Teaming With PBS KIDS' 'Cat in the Hat'?

Wonder is now an official sponsor of “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!,” an animated series on PBS KIDS that debuted earlier this fall with the aim of introducing children to the natural sciences. Running through August 2011, the famous bread brand’s sponsorship deal encompasses such components as on-air messaging.

“Just as Wonder is committed to delivering products that balance nutrition and great taste, ‘The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!’ stands out for its ability to strike a balance between entertainment and education,” noted Ann Oades, director of marketing for Irving, Texas-based Hotess Brands Inc., the maker of Wonder. ”This sponsorship represents a perfect opportunity to highlight Wonder’s commitment to promoting overall wellness for families with a partner that is devoted to encouraging early childhood education.”

Produced by Portfolio Entertainment Inc. and Collingwood O’Hare Productions, in association with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Random House Children’s Entertainment, Treehouse and PBS KIDS, the TV series is inspired by Random House’s best-selling Beginner Book collection The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library.

Wonder’s recent products include Smartwhite, offering the taste and soft texture of white bread, but with the fiber of 100 percent whole wheat bread, and the reintroduction of its Classic and Classic Sandwich breads, which now provide the same amount of calcium as 8 ounces of milk in two slices, and are also a good source of vitamin D to help the body better absorb calcium.
