Winn-Dixie’s ‘A-Team’ Back for a Fourth Season

The “A-Team” program, under which Winn-Dixie awards First Coast-area middle school students with Jacksonville Jaguars tickets throughout the football season in recognition of the youngsters’ hard work in academics, attitude, and attendance, has returned for a fourth consecutive year. As part of the initiative, the Southeast regional grocer donates family four-packs of tickets to students in the seven counties surrounding Jacksonville, Fla., Winn-Dixie’s hometown.

“It’s not only rewarding for the students to win these tickets, but it’s rewarding for Winn-Dixie to know that this program helps students reach their full potential,” said Cheryl Forehand, Winn-Dixie’s regional vice president. “Each of these students accomplished three very important qualities that contribute to their success now and in the future.”

As well as rewarding students, the program shows appreciation to First Coast middle school teachers. Winn-Dixie will give 1,920 public school teachers two tickets for four games, including one pre-season game, among Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties. As a thank-you for their work over the past school year, the teachers received more tickets this year than in the past.

The A-Team program allots 960 tickets for each home game. Each of the participating county school districts decides how the tickets will be distributed to students and teachers.

Winn-Dixie operates 515 retail grocery locations, including more than 400 in-store pharmacies, in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi.
