Winn-Dixie Taps Outside Execs to Fill Corporate Roles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. recently added three new associates to its headquarters staff to oversee product sourcing, investor relations, and in-store pharmacies.

Graham Leary is Winn-Dixie’s v.p. of strategic sourcing, where he is responsible for leading and managing product sourcing and procurement efforts for the 521-store grocer. He reports directly to Bennett Nussbaum, the company's CFO.

Leary’s career include stops at several Fortune 500 companies, including Black & Decker’s Hardware and Home Improvement Division and Colgate-Palmolive Company, where he held several leadership positions in the U.S. and overseas.

Eric Harris has joined Winn-Dixie as director of investor relations, reporting to Sheila C. Reinken, treasurer and v.p. for finance.

Harris is responsible for developing and executing the company’s investor relations strategy, and will be active in communicating Winn-Dixie’s financial information to current and prospective shareholders and analysts.

Harris has held investor relations and financial planning management positions at several high-profile companies including Alcan Corporation, Novelis Inc., and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

James “Jim” Schmid is Winn-Dixie’s new v.p. of pharmacy, responsible for the day-to-day and the strategic operations of in-store pharmacies. He reports to Dan Portnoy, s.v.p., chief merchandising & marketing officer.

Schmid spent the past 20 years working for Walgreens, where he had direct involvement and oversight for in-store clinics, Medicare Part A,B,C,& D, operational systems, managed care sales, specialty pharmacy, training and education, and other aspects of retail operations.
