Winn-Dixie Taps New Senior VP/CIO from Outside Industry
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. on Wednesday announced that Karen Salem will be joining the company as senior VP and CIO. Salem will head Winn-Dixie's information technologies department and will serve on the company's executive committee. She will report to president and CEO Al Rowland.
Salem joins Winn-Dixie from Corning Cable Systems where she was senior VP and CIO. There, she was responsible for reorganizing the IT group to align and integrate it with business units to support the fiber optic cable and connector manufacturing company's phenomenal growth rate in 20 countries.
Prior to Corning she headed the IT function for AFC Enterprises, a developer and operator of quick serve restaurants after serving as VP, information technology for Rexall Sundown, a manufacturer and marketer of vitamins, nutritional supplements and consumer health products. She also has experience with Burger King as director of business solutions and Anderson Consulting where she was a senior consultant.
