Winn-Dixie Stores Launch Program to Assist Tornado Victims

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Just hours after a line of killer tornadoes had raked across the Southern U.S. killing at least 20 people, the five Winn-Dixie stores in Dothan, Ala., six stores in Albany, Ga., and two in the Macon, Ga. area fired up a program to enable it customers help their neighbors.

Winn-Dixie Stores launched the "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" program as a way to assist the American Red Cross' Disaster Relief Fund to benefit storm victims.

Winn-Dixie said customers will find "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" donation scan sheets available at the registers. When a Winn-Dixie customer is checking out, he or she may donate an amount between 50 cents and $500 directly to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
